Molecular Level Accuracy.

Botanicals are structured from a complex range of flavour compounds, with each of these bringing a different flavour element to the table. At Giants, every botanical has been carefully selected to ensure that these compounds complement each other in our complex, three dimensional flavour profile.

Alcohol is the key to deciding which flavours are transferred into Giants Basalt Rock Gin. Different flavour compounds are transferred at different strengths, with a higher percentage allowing more transfer of flavour into the liquid.

After extensive testing, 50.1% was found to be the optimum alcohol percentage to achieve the perfect balance of flavour, and create this bold and complex gin. These compounds are harnessed by the pure basalt-filtered water drawn from our 600ft well

Precision Distilled.

State-of-the-art distilling technology is used to ensure that we can replicate Giants Basalt Rock Gin every single time we distil. Temperature, pressure and vapour speeds are just some of the distilling elements that have to be precisely controlled when creating a unique, complex, three dimensional premium gin.

We use a square boiler design to create a perfectly mixed and consistent product. Vortices form in each corner of the square base and spin in the opposite direction to the central vortex. These all cancel each other out and allow for consistent mixing. This also allows for complete control over the vapour speeds in the column which increases efficiency and enables more control over which flavour components are selected and harvested.

Our state-of-the-art equipment is made from stainless steel as oppose to the traditional copper. Stainless steel is chemically inert and will last up to 40 years unlike copper distilleries that can need to be replaced after 15 years. Stainless steel stills also don’t require harsh chemicals for cleaning like copper stills do, which makes for a much more sustainable option.

Cutting And Resting.

During our recipe development, we meticulously selected the heads, hearts and tails cut points of Giants Basalt Rock Gin.

We incorporate a precise measurement of the heads cut to create the wonderfully vibrant, fruity flavours experienced at the front of your mouth. All of the hearts are included to give the bold and complex flavour palette. The tails cut at the end of the distillation is selected to provide the heat and spicy flavours that create the third dimension in our gin.

After this premium gin has been meticulously created, it is left to rest for six weeks. This allows all the flavour compounds to come together and mellow, producing a perfectly balanced gin that’s ready to fill our iconic hexagonal bottles
